About Us

This college was established in June, 1976. At that time it was known as Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati Arts & Commerce College, Junagadh. It was a College with co-education system. At that time first Principal was Mr. B .M. Pirzada. Then Mr. B. J. Mehta, Mr. Y. J. Thakore & Mr. B. J. Vatalia rendered their services as the Principals of this college. At present, Dr. Balram P. Chavda works as the principal of this college.

In the year 1983, on the sudden demise of Dr. Subhash Chavda who was the son of Shri Pethaljibhai Chavda, the name of ‘Dr. Subhash’ was included with the name of this college & the trust.

This college was converted into a Mahila College in the year 1983. It offers Gujarati, Hindi, English & Economics Sociology, Psychology as main subjects.

In the year 1990, the faculty of Home Science was started in this college.

In the year 1992 the courses of C.C.S. & D.C.S. were started on the basis of self finance.

The P.G. centres in commerce (M.com) & Arts (Economics.,Hindi & Psychology) were started under Saurashtra Unviersity administration in the year 1992.

Dr. Shubhash Mahila Arts, Commerce and Home Science College is one among many institutes managed by Dr. Subhash P. Chavda Ahir Kelavani Mandal, Junagadh, Since 1976.

The founder of the Dr. Subhash Ahir Kelavani mandal, Junagadh, Shri Pethaljibhai N. Chavda has a grand vision, that is the progress of the society through education for girls of rural area of (Sorath) Saurashtra, who are economically, socially and educationally, backward class. His vision is realized through team spirit, dedication and hard work.

Today since three decades we are on threshold of another era. In this era of global village, when global interdependence and competition are upon us, we must education train young girls to keep pace with the best and brightest in the world.

We must offer programs of study appropriate to the modern age. We must maintain high standards of education and we must offer opportunities of learning to young girls from (Sorath) Saurashtra.
